2468 Cycle Challenge 2019

We’re very excited about a special fundraising campaign our team has launched, for our charity partner Indreni Children’s Foundation of Nepal. Seven of our colleagues at 2468 have set themselves a challenge to cycle between our UK and Irish HQ's. That's a distance of some 350 miles (515 KM), over four days, between the 12th and 15th August 2019. They’re taking on this incredible cycle for Indreni, with whom 2468 has worked for several years. Indreni was founded in Nepal ... Read More 2468 Cycle Challenge 2019

Why do we roast coffee?

We’ve been roasting at Ferns for over 125 years now, in a craft that’s unchanged in that time. The roasting process brings out the aroma and flavour locked inside the green coffee beans and provides the essential elements for our different blends. Coffee beans, as bought and traded aren’t really coffee as we know them until they are roasted. The make up of the bean is the same, but the flavour we experience in a cup of coffee isn’t available until beans are ... Read More Why do we roast coffee?

Coffee at Work: Creating Connections to Foster Collaboration

Face-to-face contact releases a whole cascade of neurotransmitters and, like a vaccine, they protect you now, in the present, and well into the future, so simply [...] shaking hands, giving somebody a high-five is enough to release oxytocin, which increases your level of trust, and it lowers your cortisol levels, so it lowers your stress.Susan Pinker, author, social science columnist for the Wall Street Journal The Role of Socialisation and Social Interactions at Work We’ve been looking into the role ... Saluto to National Cappuccino Day

Every coffee starts with a good espresso. And a good cappuccino requires careful attention so that the ratio of foam within the milk is just right. It’s one of the most difficult espresso-based beverages to make properly – requiring a skilled barista – or a perfectly calibrated automatic coffee machine – to get right. The perfect cappuccino (or Capucco’ in Italian slang) is made up of three distinct layers, coffee, hot milk and frothy (not dense) foam. Cappuccino is Italian ... Eating on the run?

Just eat real food – and don't go hungry! These key principles provide a strong foundation for well-being through nutrition, which itself is one of the 5 key contributors to a long life (the others being exercise, no smoking, sleep, controlling stress, and…love). So we learned from Dr Brendan Egan, at the first 2468 Well-being workshops for our own team in Dunboyne, Basingstoke and Warrington earlier this year. As well as being associate Professor in Health & Human Performance at ... Read More Eating on the run?
